Case Study: Promotional Laundry Bags Raise Awareness of Cotton For College Students
Challenge: How to create awareness and increase the use of cotton fabric products among college students.
If a campaign promoting cotton fabric and clothing is going to build excitement and attract the attention of college students, it better be fun. What this company needed was an inventive way to generate new business with the creative use of promotional products.
Solution: A "Cotton Dirty Laundry Tour" was implemented and enhanced by the use of promotional products.
The tour started with nine college campuses in the United States. The primary promotional item, a full-size cotton promotional laundry bag, was given to every student who attended the event. Several game and contest type attractions during each event attracted crowds and generated participation. Students couldn’t resist playing games such as “Wheel of Cotton” or “Pop A Shot” (shooting basketballs into an open washing machine). Additional promotional items - denim picture frames, denim printed notebooks, cotton baseball t-shirts and bandanas - just to name a few, were distributed at the event. Cotton Care facts, printed on the laundry bags, reflected literary references such as “Seize The Laundry Day” and “Weathering Brights.” This was an ambitious, multi-tiered campaign that required tremendous expertise in terms of coordination and planning. Promoting and staging a live event (nine live events) is not for the faint of heart, but the campaign was an overwhelming success.
Student participation and reaction to the events was overwhelmingly positive with a dramatic spike in website hits following the tour. The company decided to repeat the campaign, increasing the tour from nine campuses to 14 the following year.

Eco-Word: Reusable Alternatives

One of the most common eco-friendly products out there are promotional tote bags. These reusable alternatives to plastic shopping bags are perfect for your promotional needs.
So what are reusable alternatives? They are any product that, well, can be reused. Promotional non-woven tote bags are the most popular of these items, also called eco-friendly tote bags.
Many retail stores are changing to these types of bags in order to help cut down on the amount of plastic bags that are being discarded. The hope is that the next time a customer visits the store, they will use the promotional tote bag that they received previously. This is a great way to help the environment.
Promotional tote bags are popular not only at retail stores, they are also very well known at trade shows. Your trade show booth visitors can use these bags to carry all of their trade show schwag.

Another Mug Raises Awareness

I have noticed how popular heat-activated mugs are for raising awareness about global warming and rising sea levels. Similar to what I posted previously, this promotional ceramic mug shows how quickly the ice caps are melting.
Again, this is truly an effective promotion that gets you thinking about what global warming is doing to our environment. A great eco-friendly promotion.

WWF Kicks Up Ecological Awareness With Great Promotional Product

Here is an example of a eco-friendly promotion that truly utilizes its promotional products to the fullest. A heat-activated mug with a global theme was used to demonstrate the effect of climate change. As the heat of the earth rises so do water levels. This was shown in the mug, as hot water is poured in the world map graphic vanishes.
The best part is the eco-friendly value of the mug itself. The mug is reusable which means less paper cups being thrown away.

Eco-Video: Clean Fuel Caravan
Here is a video of the first ever coalition of educators and entertainers that utilize renewable fuels in continued outreach tours to share ideas and resources about sustainable living. They tour using clean fuels in response to the issues that arise from using petroleum fuels.
Using puppets and games to educate kids. With some recycled promotional products and even products that are reusable alternatives to cups and bags, this promotion would have made an even greater impact.

Eco-friendly products do not always need to be re-usable materials. Many products made from sustainable materials are an excellent way to make your business eco-friendly.
Many of these products are made out of bamboo, a highly renewable resource. Bamboo is very fast growing, this means that by using products made from bamboo you are tapping into a resource that replenishes itself very quickly.

Eco-Video: Eco-friendly License Plates
First hybrid cars now eco-friendly license plates. That is an idea. License plates made from recycled plastic.
Of course the proceeds from the sale of these "green plates" goes to fundraisers. If you aren't ready for an eco-friendly license plate, start small and reduce the amount of waste in your car. Instead of paper cups that you through away, use an eco-friendly tumbler made from recycled materials.
